Medical cannabis is increasingly being used as a form of treatment, which is why demand in Germany is growing steadily. Producers face the challenge not only of meeting this high demand, but also of ensuring the highest quality whilst complying with regulatory requirements. As in many other sectors, the cannabis industry is looking to digitalisation as a solution to current and future challenges. The use of new and digital technologies offers the opportunity to maximise cannabis yields and product quality – whilst ensuring the highest levels of product safety and traceability.
This article examines medical cannabis as a form of therapy and its digitally supported production. It highlights why it is necessary to digitise existing processes and establish modern digitalisation strategies. In this context, potential solutions are presented and explained, along with how the use of digital tools can have a positive impact on the production and distribution processes of medical cannabis.
